Site Operator

The operator must be a qualified artisan in order to perform electrical and mechanical maintenance on process equipment. Strong communication skills (English, spoken and written) . Pro-active problem solving and an ability to effectively troubleshoot in a team are essential traits. Must be prepared to work on a rotational shift basis with occasional overtime.
Qualifications:
• National senior certificate (Matric/Similar)
• National technical certificate (N3)
• Drivers License
• Basic first aid & firefighting preferred
• Plant operation & monitoring
o The continuous monitoring (SCADA) and control of all operational parameters of the waste-to-value process plant
o Operate process machinery and equipment
o Follow start-up and shut-down procedures of both the entire plant and the individual process units
o Record and log production figures, downtime events, maintenance events and anomalies in the operating parameters electronically
o Report critical production figures and process parameters in regular updates on messaging platforms
o Visually monitor effluent and feed streams
o Effluent and gas sampling
o Report all plant issues or parameter anomalies to the site manager
• Maintenance
o Follow out preventative maintenance schedules on plant process equipment
o Attend to breakdowns
o Effective troubleshooting
o Complete equipment checklists
o Maintain housekeeping standards on the plant
o Manage contractors that come to site
• Stock Control
o Monitor raw materials usage and inform site manager when more stock is required
o Manage spare parts stock
o Ensure storage areas are clean and organised
• Laboratory
o Conduct lab testing accurately and safely
o Record and report results
o Manage stock levels of lab testing consumables and chemicals
o Manage calibration of lab equipment (some can be done internally, some external)
o Clean and maintain lab equipment
o Coordinate external lab testing
• Health & Safety
o Adhere to H&S procedures
o Upkeep of H&S file
o Report incidents and near-misses
o Manage regular checks of safety equipment (fire equipment, spill kits, safety shower, etc.)
• Admin & Supply Chain
o Clock in & out
o Overtime reconciliation
o Manage office supplies stock
o Assist with supply chain (contact suppliers, quote acquisition, recommendations, etc)
