Remote and/or on site (HQ'd Manchester)
Who they are:
They are a Manchester born scale up who have been building a product/platform to be the digital solution to an entire industry who are decades behind the curve.
They are trying to fix something that has somehow not been brought into the modern day by tech when almost everything else has.
Crucially they are doing this by putting themselves in the consumers shoes, not the corporate machine.
The plan is take this thing global, the Founders have no desire to be a small scale success story in their region. They want to be a proper household name.
Lofty ambition? Perhaps, but the Founders have bucket loads of experience and have successfully built companies in the past, so they know what they are doing.
Location:
HQ'd in Manchester city centre - can be fully remote, even post pandemic.
A glimpse into what you will be doing:
You will join a fast growing, Agile team, who are obsessed with clean code, and proper engineering standards (TDD etc). There is genuine opportunity to progress - one Engineer has been promoted to Tech Lead after receiving lots of training during his 8 months in the business.
You will take part in paired programming to help build their platform/product, add new features, and immerse yourself in the bundles of training on offer.
Your new CTO is incredibly responsive and open to change - there is genuine opportunity to shape them as a company and it's future. You will be able to put your name to the next big thing and whether you want to introduce new tech/methods, suggest a new working style, your opinion matters and you will be listened to.
In fact, they used to be fully office based, but having listened to their team they are now remote first - there is still an office there if you prefer a hybrid style of working.
Tech:
Most of the team haven't ticked every tech box, but they are talented, adaptable and ambitious Engineers so have cross trained very quickly. They appreciate a good Developer when they see one - so if you are more of a Vue, C#, Python, Angular kind of person don't worry, they will teach you the ins and outs of how they work pretty quickly.
To give you a run down of their stack:
Front End: HTML, CSS, React, Redux, React Native
Back End: Ruby on Rails
Hosting: Heroku
Database: PostgreSQL
So, what are they looking for?
Keeping it simple, as long as you have 2/3+ years' experience (ideally) and have built websites or web applications, understand the complexities and can talk to non-tech and technical people alike, they want to hear from you.
What's on offer:
- Salary wise - they have a budget of around £45-55k on offer
- Share options
- Flexible start/finish times
- Career progression plan
- Remote working
