Software Engineer in Test required for a company in Edinburgh (mostly remote!).
This company, based in Edinburgh city centre in bright, open offices, are genuine leaders in their field - they have the largest European customer based in their industry. Having been around for thirty years, they're a strong and stable organisation with considered, sustainable growth when it comes to headcount!
You'll be in a fairly unique role - in charge of creating automation test frameworks that are then used across the business by various Software Testers and testing teams. Because of this, you will have a strong coding background (you might even be/have been a Software Developer interested in moving into software testing!).
The company use C#/SpecFlow to create the automation testing, so it's essential that you have this experience. You'll have autonomy to develop the test frameworks as you see fit, which is helped by trusting managers who are also eager to provide opportunities for professional development (and as a result people end up staying for several years!).
If you have an interest in mentoring, this would be a huge bonus - as the team would love you to be able to mentor and develop the skills of less experienced staff across the testing team (and would of course support you with this).
You'll have most of the following experience:
**Creating automation test frameworks from scratch - NUnit, XUnit
**Visual Studio, C#, SpecFlow for automation testing
**Knowledge of SOLID principles
**Experience or an interest in mentoring
**Give input into other areas of testing when needed, including regression and performance testing
**Developing SQL scripts
**CI/CD
**Gherkin, Selenium, JavaScript would be a bonus!
The company are also committed to developing and improving across their products and their teams and have plans to introduce cutting-edge tools into their technical team. One example of this is a move to develop the DevOps function, and have it more widely integrate with various testing teams - so you can always be assured you are working with modern and relevant technology!
The company are working completely remotely right now, but long-term would like to move to a hybrid working model, with around a day or two a week in the office. The salary on offer is up to £60,000, depending on experience and benefits include health insurance, income protection, life assurance, employee assistance programme, holidays plus special leave.
If this role sounds of interest, please apply and/or reach out to Erin at Cathcart Associates.
