Software Project Manager required for a software company in Edinburgh.
The Business
They are a well-established software company who focus on a niche area of asset management software. They are a small team with a strong global client base. At present, the Developers manage the projects with support from the Technical Lead and Software Support.
In the last two years, they have brought in a number of new technical hires to resource expanding client requirements and there is a need to improve on and formalise the project management system. The office is based in the New Town and reopened earlier this year, post Covid. They would ask for you to be office based the majority of the week, a more flexible arrangement may be possible going forward. Free parking is available.
It is a collaborative environment and the team are keen to hear your ideas on putting their business requirements into practice. You will be key to the team, a cornerstone between the clients, technical and commercial staff.
The role
There is currently no dedicated PM within the company. Due to the increase in work, existing PM processes are no longer meeting business needs.
In terms of role responsibilities, initially, you will be required to look at existing systems and work with the technical staff to establish the status of each project and implement a straightforward, easily maintained system. This system should, crucially, provide accurate reporting, both internal and external. Ongoing, you will work closely with the clients, Developers (in particular the management of their time / workload), software support and commercial staff carrying out PM tasks to ensure the smooth running of the projects.
Key Skills and Experience:
** Background in project management although not necessarily from technical / software - most important is the ability, and the interpersonal skills, to drive a project from start to a successful finish.
** Keen eye for detail and very strong (internal) stakeholder management skills
** Knowledge and experience of Microsoft packages, including Project, PowerPoint, Word and Excel
