Position: Solar Technician

Job Description: We are seeking a skilled and dedicated Solar Technician to join our team. The Solar Technician will be responsible for ensuring the performance, troubleshooting, and repair of solar energy systems to maximize efficiency, availability, and safety. This role involves performing routine maintenance, generating performance reports, diagnosing and resolving issues, and optimizing system performance for large-scale renewable installations, including solar PV, BESS, diesel generators, and LV/MV networks.

Key Responsibilities:

• Ensure the performance and safety of solar energy systems.
• Perform routine maintenance and generate performance reports.
• Diagnose and resolve issues to optimize system performance.
• Work with large-scale renewable installations, including solar PV, BESS, diesel generators, and LV/MV networks.
• Interpret monitoring data to detect underperformance or faults.

Qualifications:

• Minimum Electrical Trade Test Certificate (3 phase).
• Valid wireman’s license issued by the Department of Labour (DoL) in South Africa (advantageous).
• Driver’s License.
• Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in solar and BESS.
• Understanding of photovoltaic (PV) system components, including solar modules, inverters, controllers (including diesel generator), mounting structures, and batteries.
• Proficiency in electrical circuits, grounding, power distribution, and wiring regulations.
• Understanding of transformers, switchgear, protection relays, and grid interconnections.
• Familiarity with integrating diesel generators in hybrid renewable energy solutions.
• Compliance with South African electrical installation regulations.

Skills:

• Strong diagnostic and troubleshooting skills.
• Ability to interpret monitoring data and detect faults.
• Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.
