JOB DESCRIPTION:

Job Purpose: The stock controller will be responsible for all stock related issues of the hotel – ensuring that stock levels meet business needs. The candidate will be responsible for sourcing, ordering, and purchasing of stock as well as ensuring PAR levels are replenished and ensure issuing and transferring of stock between departments happens timeously.

 

Minimum requirements:

  • 2+ years’ experience as a Stock Controller within the hospitality industry
  • PMS, POS and Office suite experience
  • F & B knowledge (Food and beverage)
  • MICE knowledge (Meetings, incentives, conferences and exhibitions)
  • Driving license and own transport
  • Formal Hospitality qualification (Diploma or degree)
  • Customer service experience
  • Team management skills
  • Administrative skills
  • Problem-solving skills
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Excellent communication skills

 

Duties will be, but are not limited to:

  • Ensure that stock par levels are maintained
  • Procurement of stock is done at best prices
  • Ensure cost prices are up to date on stock system
  • Ensure all recipes are correct on stock system
  • Ensure the standard of staff morale and appearance is maintained
  • Ensure all operating equipment is in good working order and used properly and not abused
  • Ensure stocktaking is done as required
  • Assist and liaise with guest needs and special functions
  • All maintenance issues need to be reported to maintenance and actioned as a matter of urgency and ensure issue is completed
  • Ensure effective communication is in place between relative departments with regards to stock
  • Ensure staff daily functions (stock related) are done and necessary arrangements are done
  • Identify any areas for development / training needs and ensure on-the-job training or external training is done
  • Ensure all hygiene standards are adhered to Ensure all staff always adhere to company policies and procedures
  • Ensure all F & B items are of the highest quality
  • Attend training as and when required
  • Be familiar with the operational manual, house rules, fire, security procedures and labor law
  • Have a thorough knowledge of all facilities and services offered for sale by the hotel
  • Be prepared to work shifts as and when required or per operational requirements
  • Perform any other duties as directed by the DM or GM
