Stores Controller

JOB DESCRIPTION:

Main Responsibility

Ensure that effective stores keeping procedures are adhered to at all times in order to maintain effective stock control in all storage areas. Organize and supervise stores personnel to optimal productivity and ensure the accurate receiving, storage, picking and issuing of all necessary parts according to all company operational requirements.

 

Key Performance Areas

  • Ensure that all goods (material, parts and equipment) are received into the stores effective and on time.
  • Ensure that all goods received into the stores are packed correctly into their allocated binning areas.
  • Ensure that all requests for stock are accurately picked, packed and provided to the requestor in the correct type and quantity and quality.
  • Ensure to maintain the necessary measures to prevent goods being received or issued without the necessary paperwork.
  • Maintain strict, effective and component safe storage housekeeping standards in all storage areas at all times.
  • Maintain strict and accurate control on the movement of spares and equipment to and from Vic Falls Warehouse.
  • Ensure goods safekeeping and security procedures are adhered to for Main Stores, Productions Stores and Vic Falls Warehouse.
  • Ensure mothballing procedures are adhered to according to OEM and company specifications
  • Ensure all goods are safely secured to prevent damage during storage and transportation.
  • Liaise and confirm on time goods delivery requirements with the Area Managers and Project Managers.

 

Schedule and supervise stores personnel

  • Supervising, planning, organizing and continuous monitoring of effective time usage of stores personnel.
  • Co-ordination and time allocation of all stores tasks
  • Ensure accurate and effective storekeeping practices are adhere to by all stores employees at all times.
  • Ensure safe storage and stacking procedures are adhered to by all stores employees.

 

Co-ordinate goods supply during machine build projects

  • Ensure production stores and receiving employees are aware of all machine build spare parts and equipment requirements.
  • Ensure accurate binning control, picking and issuing of spare parts and equipment in the Production Store areas
  • Co-ordinate and ensure accurate and speedy picking and delivery of assembly parts and components to the workshop.

 

Co-ordinate goods supply during breakdowns.

  • Ensure main stores and receiving employees are aware of all emergency requirements of specific breakdowns
  • Prioritise and allow speedy movement of breakdown related spares in and out of Stores and to the Site.
  • Co-ordinate and ensure the correct and secure goods packing and shipment process.

 

General stores keeping

  • Ensure on-time movement of goods and the stores counter is clear of old issues.
  • Ensure general housekeeping and cleanliness of the storage areas.
  • Ensure all spares at Vic Falls are neatly packed and correctly accounted for at all times.
  • Ensure correct packing and shipping procedures are in place
  • Ensure strict security and access control is maintained in all storage areas at all times.

 

Stock Control

  • Plan, monitor and supervise all regular cycle counts.
  • Ensure physical stock on shelves correspond to stock on computer system.
  • Ensure all discrepancies communicated to Materials Manager immediately.
  • Monitor minimum stock levels in and report critical levels to Materials Manager and the Technical Manager.
  • Ensure FIFO system is adhered to at all times.
  • ctively take part and assist with all major scheduled stock takes.

 

Workplace Safety

  • To ensure all store tools and equipment are serviced and maintained for use at all times.
  • Ensure Stores is a safe working environment through regular risk analysis at all times.
  • Ensure all storage areas are clearly marked with the correct safety signs
  • Ensure all safety procedures are adhered to as per the company procedures.
  • Ensure toolbox talks are pro-actively conducted and relevant to the daily stores operational and safety requirements.

 

Educational Requirements

  • Grade 12 +diploma/certificate in warehouse management 
  • Minimum 10 years working experience in on-the-floor stores keeping and supervision

Skills Requirements

  • Must know how to plan, organise, control and delegate
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in working with SYSPRO or similar warehouse data management program

Additional Requirements

  • Driver’s licence minimum code 08 (EB)
  • To adhere to company policies, procedures and health and safety plans
