Study Coordinator (Nurse) Wits VIDA

Main purpose of the job:

• To administer, maintain and coordinate the logistical aspects of clinical trials according to good clinical practice, the study protocol, and the standard operating procedures and to act as a pivotal point of contact for the clinical trial team and the donors

Location:

• VIDA Nkanyezi - Rahima Moosa Mother and Child Hospital, Cnr Fuel and Oudtshoorn Street, Coronationville - Johannesburg

Key performance areas:

• Ensure that participants being screened are recorded on daily stats
• Compare screening logs with enrolment logs to determine how many screened participants were not enrolled
• Establish a reason for screened participants not being enrolled to report back at weekly meetings
• Ensure that employees are providing participants with correct study-specific information and ensuring that GCP and ICF procedures are correctly followed
• Manage scheduled and unscheduled patient visits and appointments in accordance with the study protocol
• Schedule patient visits and record visits in the research calendar
• Study patient contact activities and files prior to screening visits
• Draw blood and process results
• Collect, process, store, and ship specimens
• Report any adverse events within the required time frames
• Code diagnoses and treatment
• Complete relevant questionnaires, assessments, and documentation
• Complete CRF entries
• Update and maintain patient files and ensure files are safely archived
• Perform relevant study administration i.e. checking laboratory invoices
• Quality control patient files
• Pro-actively resolve protocol and data queries
• Prepare files for monitoring visits and requirements
• Meet with Monitors as and when required
• Manage study-related regulatory activities

Required minimum education and training:

• Diploma in Professional Nursing (Registered with SANC) or equivalent
• Good Clinical Practice (GCP) essential

Required minimum work experience:

• Minimum of 2 years in a clinical trials environment

Desirable additional education, work experience, and personal abilities:

• Computer literacy in MS Word and MS excel essential
• Attention to detail, neat, organized, enthusiastic, hard-working
• The ability to work independently
• Good interpersonal and organizational skills and the ability to work in a team essential
