Functional Definition:
· To administer the manufacturing discipline in the Paint Plant to ensure an operational efficiency of 85% and Quality performance.
Duties and Responsibilities
· Ensure daily loading plan to stock or customer requirement is created and implemented· Complete stock control on painted stock and raw-stock daily· Ensure correct dunnage is used and taken to and from the line · Ensure that paint material usage in Paint Plant is controlled · Ensure the team follow standardized work process · Manage performance and attendance of the team, including first level format written disciplinary action, performance review and absence management · Conduct on the job training with Wipers/Spray Painters/Loaders etc · Ensure each subordinate is coached and trained in all aspects of their role, including production and quality control procedures to maintain a cross functional, multiskilled workforce. · Record daily data and enforce discipline when issues identified are quality concerns. Ensure the filling in of scrap sheets when scrap is identified · Ensure quality checks are completed at agreed times · Arrange relief operations/painters for absent subordinates to prevent line stoppages
· Complete a weekly MDW team meeting for the team to focus on Key
Performance Measures
· Ensure the team are performing to quality standards, product quality,
presentation, and housekeeping
· Contribute to team efforts to ensure that targets per man hour are achieved
· Carry out problem escalation procedure when conveyor or tool problem occurs
· Responsible for booth maintenance
· Carry out jig cleaning as per the jig cleaning schedule
· Responsible for troubleshooting machines that experience problems
· Carry out daily Audits that all parameters are within specifications e.g.,
Airflow, air pressure, booth temperatures, viscosities, spray patterns, gun
settings, oven temperatures
· Carry out Line trials are requested
· Participate in Compliance Audits
· Carry out Process checks in the booth/paint kitchen
· Maintain a safe and clean work environment (5S) by educating and directing subordinates on the use of equipment, and area; by supporting
and enforcing standards as set out in the group health and safety policy
Minimum Qualifications
· Matric
· National Diploma in Production Management or NQ4 Production related qualification
· 5 Years relevant experience in a Production environment working with a unionized workforce ·
Sound knowledge of the Kanban system
· Spray Painting Experience is essential
