Tasting Room & Brand Manager (WSET Level 3) - Stellenbosch - R10 000 - R20 000 with 5% of gross sales
MUST HAVE EXPERIENCE WITH WINE
Collaborative creative production space for small-scale craftsmen which flows into a physical showroom who are a first-of-its-kind collective tasting room who provide a brand home for eight producer-owned small to medium-sized craft wine brands. All produced on-site at the collective winery, paired with a simple tapas-inspired menu.
They are currently closed for winter, planning to reopen in spring, with a new face and lots of enthusiasm for summer.

Job Description:
This is a senior-level, dynamic, self-managed position. There will be no daily supervision and the candidate will be required to independently execute the vision and perform weekly reporting to the directors with minimal oversight.
There is a lot of room for growth which would ideally suit an entrepreneurially minded individual inclined to make this position their own with the aim of receiving equity in the business in the long term.
Tasting Room Management
All elements pertaining to managing the tasting room including but not limited to opening and closing, serving guests, stock control, reporting, social media management, maintaining the website, dispatching orders, event management and marketing etc.
Kitchen Management
Currently, they operate the food offering themselves, but we are weighing up the option of outsourcing this to a third party. If the candidate has a background in food preparation it would be ideal to manage this internally but can be negotiated.
Working Hours
You will be expected to work on-site from Wednesdays to Sundays, 10:00 to 19:00.
Required Skills and Experience
Although formal training is not required it would be advantageous. And demonstrable aptitude in the following areas would critical
Key Skills:
WSET Level 3 or equivalent wine knowledge.
Excellent written and spoken command of English with some proficiency in Afrikaans being highly advantageous. You will be required to send out monthly newsletters, write tasting notes for social media and write descriptions for the website. You will also be required to communicate eloquently with guests from various walks of life selling the narrative of our wine brands.
Above average computer literacy. The position will require updating the website(s), working on the POS back of house and various other admin-related tasks.
Advantageous:
Proficiency in social media marketing. More than simply knowing how to write a post for social media it would be highly advantageous if the candidate had some understanding of how the various platform’ algorithms work and how to exploit them.
Small business management. Although formal education in this field is not necessary some training and or experience would be very beneficial. Due to the fact that the candidate will be working independently with little oversight and charged with growing this small business the role will naturally evolve into one of business management over time. Insofar it would be useful if that foundation existed, in its absence, a quick study with a good work ethic, a willingness to learn and a lot of ambition would suffice.
Other
Due to the isolated nature of the position the ideal candidate will have to be very comfortable working on their own, without supervision and with only broad guidelines as to the goals we want them to achieve.
Remuneration
Depending on experience we are offering a basic of R10k to R20k wth 5% of gross wine sales. With the current turnover, this equates to about R5k p. Month on average but is completely up to the candidate to grow. We are also willing to offer equity in the business after 12 months.
