Job Description

We are looking for a strong candidate to join the exciting Battery Energy Storage Systems team a Design and development Engineer to assist with engineering, R&D and final solution build of Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) to ensure quality, reliability and cost-effective construction and operation of  projects.

• Oversee a small team to develop and build BESS minigrid systems
• Physically be part of the practical team in a very hands on manner
• Select suppliers of different upstream components within the BESS
• Establish and maintain the engineering design criteria, applicable standards and specifications for BESS projects
• Develop a standard capacity and performance range of BESS systems
• Develop reliable and cost-effective customer focused BESS designs
• Be responsible for the development, review and technical oversight of all engineering and design of energy storage projects
• Support procurement of BESS equipment by maintaining continuous interface with Vendor’s technical personnel and performing technical bid evaluation to ensure compliance to specifications
• Support system studies of BESS during design and planning and ensure its proper execution during delivery

Secondary Support duties

• Responsible for analyzing RFQ’s and bids while developing the technical and economic proposals.
• Preparing the sizing and technical configuration of the BESS, PV, Micro-grids as best for bid.
• Support project team in project execution, provide technical support to the sales team.
• Negotiate best solutions with sales team with customers
• Interact with corporate engineering, R&D and purchasing department to evaluate costs and technology

Prepare the technical documentation and cost estimation for any project in the REGION

Qualifications

• Bachelor''s degree in Electrical Engineering

Skills

• 4+ years of engineering experience in renewable generating facilities (solar and storage),
• Proven expertise in grid regulations, PCS and Power Management System & Energy Management system associated with BESS projects
• Working Knowledge of HV BESS systems using Lithium ion batteries
• Proven experience in design and delivery of mini grid scale storage technology solutions as well as familiarity with tier 1 technology energy storage projects
• Proven expertise in grid codes, PCS and Power Management System & Energy Management system associated with BESS projects
• Experience with all common BESS interfaces
• Ability to maintain ownership and take responsibility for all BESS technical issues
• Proactive personality, solution minded and willing to take calculated risks to achieve results
• Ability to discern problems, evaluate alternatives and work with stakeholders to resolve issues
• Ability to effectively interface and interact with various other functional groups, proven team player
