Job Description

Our Client has an opportunity for a dedicated individual to hold the position of the Cost Accountant. The successful applicant will be responsible for the following:

• Plan, study and collect data to determine costs of business activity such as raw materials purchases, inventory and labour
• Analyse actual manufacturing costs and prepare periodic reports comparing standard costs to actual production costs.
• Make estimates of new and proposed product costs
• Perform investigations regarding effectiveness and/or efficiencies within the Costs Department and branches and formulate proposals for improvement
• Maintain an orderly, updated accounting filing system for all documents
• Ensure all journals are properly described, calculated and signed off by authorised personnel
• Record cost information for use in controlling expenditures
• Coach non‐financial managers on interpreting and communicating financial data
• Ensure fair allocation of workload
• Provide input to key strategic decisions and formulation of business strategies and input to improve business performance

Qualifications

• Matriculation
• BCom Accounting or Equivalent
• CIMA will be an added Advantage

Skills

• 3 years’ experience in cost accounting
• Good understanding of Syspro.
• Sound knowledge of accounting systems
• Ability to works systematically and methodically
