Qualifications/Experience & Knowledge:-

• National Diploma in ICT Related Discipline/ Bachelor’s Degree Advantageous
• HCNA/CCNA/MSCE Certifications
• Good knowledge of Transmission technology – Fibre/Microwave/Cable
• Microsoft Office Tools and Related Programs
• Excellent written and verbal communication required.
• Experience presenting technical material to groups with varying skill levels.
• History of being flexible and adapting to new technologies and environmental changes.
• Good Patience/Communication Skills

Job Description

• On and off Site availability – Work from Office/ Remote Switches and Base Stations.
  • Rapid Site Deployment – Mobile Sites Deployment via any means of Transmission Media
    • Transmission/Radio Base Station Survey
    • Plan Basic Transmission Parameters – Verify LOS/NLOS
    • Ensure Availability of Required Equipment
    • Ensure MOCN Activation where Required.
• EBU – Enterprise Business Unit – PAC/Maintenance
• Transmission Link Upgrades – New Link Integration for Different Transmission Hardware including CTN/OSN/Microwave.
• Offer assistance and troubleshooting guidance for FMEs during implementation or maintenance activities.
• Support/Coordinate Back Office/Front Office Activities
• Deliver on Customer Expectations.
• Support MTN FTTS Operations including Third Party Vendors – Liquid Telecoms/ Link Africa & DFA
• Provide Detailed Information on how to Setup, Configure or Upgrade Transmission Products.
• Willingness to Learn and to Evolve/ Flexibility and Adaptability.
• Analysis of KPIs, investigation and improvement of network quality problems, congestion issues and other identified items.
• Execute performance activities in customer projects based on project requirements
• Co-ordination with the field engineers of Radio and Fiber optic Network and Switching divisions for rectifying radio / Fiber optic network problems and improving the network performance and quality.
• Conducting new site surveys for expanding the radio and Fiber optic transmission network.
• Propose plan for network expansion based on the traffic report analysis.
• Ensure Microwave Links are within planned RSL levels.
• Monitoring and reporting Telkom 10 gig, 1 gig and E1''''''''''''''''s.
• Investigating TX Hardware alarms.
• Investigate PLA, LOF, low RSL and XPIC loss alarms from U2000. Hand faults to FME''''''''''''''''s and follow up.
• Investigate packet loss, synch issues on both CTN and RTN networks.
• Check RTN high BW utilization/congestion/IP links, link availability, faulty links and CTN faults on the network.
• Request for extra connection between CTN - RTN for highly utilized ports.
• Investigate sites with TX availability issues.
• Optimize newly integrated links and congesting links.
• Follow up on sites that are down.
• Re-route traffic, load balancing and deleting IP links to be decommissioned.
• Assist with FTTS cut-ins.
