SUMMARY:

To ensure that the Client pays statutory and non-statutory requisitions as well as its creditors; and that money received is paid into the Client’s account in a timely manner.

POSITION INFO:
Minimum Requirements:

Degree or Diploma in Financial Accounting
2 years working experience in an accounting environment

Technical skills and Knowledge:

MS Office, good knowledge of Excel is required
High level of numeracy
Knowledge of Pastel
Accounting principles and procedures
Relevant legislation and Treasury requirements

Key Performance Areas:
Process payments

Receive invoices processed by the Accounts Clerk, checking that all the relevant documentation is included
Reconcile the General Ledger to invoice/statement ensuring accuracy of information
Prepare payment advice and forward to relevant stakeholders, maintaining accurate payment records monthly

Maintain filling system

File proof of payment with supporting documentation
Receive returned cheques and file in numerical sequence, according to standard procedure
File all approved invoices received for nee suppliers

Process cash books

Capture information regarding income and expenses incurred on allocated cash books (Penalties, Current and Petty Cash) weekly reconciling figures against supporting documentation
Follow up on unreconciled items with the relevant stakeholders, resolving issues identified
Reconcile all information again monthly

Monitor the financial status of contracts

Check the status of payments made on the payment run for approval contracts weekly
Update budge spend on contracts by capturing the expenditure per contract on the Register weekly
Compile an updated schedule and send to Management Accountant
