Tool and Die Maker

SUMMARY:
Manufacturing company specialising in the assembly and fabrication of steel structures requires a Qualified Machinist/Operator/Fitter & Turner

POSITION INFO:

• Read and interpret blueprints, design schematics and CAD drawings.
• Design jigs and templates as work aids in the fabrication of parts.
• Modify dies to conform to manufacturing changes.
• Setting up machine tools such as drills, lathes, and milling machines.
• Cutting and shaping blocks to specified dimensions.
• Filing, grinding and shimming metals to ensure a smooth finish.
• Fitting and assembling tools and die parts.
• Inspect finished dies and tools for defects, smoothness and check for contour deformities.
• Conduct test runs with completed tools and dies.
• Adhere to all Health and Safety procedures and processes

• Ability to read drawings and understand technical requirements and specifications
• Ability to use and interpret measuring tools.
• Attention to detail and should be accurate.
• Experience as Machinist or working in a Tool Room.
• Experience in working with mills machines and lathes, especially.
• Matric and machinist qualifications preferred.
• Punctual and work efficiently
• Must be physically strong and fit, to lift heavy equipment.
• Knowledge of health and safety rules.
