POSITION INFO:
My client in the manufacturing / automotive industry is seeking to employ a Toolmaker on CONTRACT basis.
Duties include:
- This position will be an integral part of the maintenance team and will be responsible for the repair and maintenance of press tools and other equipment
- Repair and maintain press tools
- Routine servicing and regrinding of tools
- Attend breakdowns, identify faults and problem solve at the press with minimal downtime to assist production
- Evaluate each job and determine if it can be repaired in press or must be removed to Tool Room for essential maintenance and repair work
- Estimate length of time required to complete a job and likely consequences of failure to complete work within required timelines
- Report breakdowns, root causes and equipment faults to management
- Perform root cause analysis and resolve problems
- Support new project tooling from commissioning stages through to start of production
- Manufacture new tooling and ancillary spares to support production activity and customer deadlines
- Carry out engineering level changes to tools and modifications
Minimum Requirements:
- Matric/ Grade 12 or equivalent
- Qualified Toolmaker with 3 years qualified experience
- Previous experience in a metal processing environment will be advantageous
- Understanding of manufacturing processes
- Understanding of Lean manufacturing
- Strong fault-finding skills.
- Must be able to read technical, electrical and mechanical drawings.
- Must be qualified to work at heights.
