Transportation Manager

My client is looking for an experienced Transport Manager to oversee their transportation operations. The ideal candidate will have strong leadership abilities, excellent organisational skills, and a solid understanding of transport logistics.

As a Transportation Manager, you will be responsible for:

• Oversee day-to-day operations of carrier pickups to ensure smooth shipment flow from fulfilment centres.
• Review and optimize carrier schedules to meet operational needs and service level agreements (SLAs).
• Monitor carrier performance using key metrics such as on-time delivery, cost, and service quality.
• Conduct performance reviews and address issues with carriers as needed.
• Collaborate with internal teams to identify bottlenecks and implement process improvements.
• Establish procedures for managing relationships between outbound teams and local parcel carriers.
• Resolve or escalate parcel operations exceptions efficiently.
• Prepare reports on carrier performance and cost analysis for senior management.
• Lead new client onboarding, including deployment of resources.
• Maintain strong relationships with existing carriers and identify new ones to expand the network.
• Manage and develop a team, ensuring alignment with goals and fostering collaboration.
• Ensure compliance with industry regulations and company policies in carrier operations.
• Stay informed on industry trends and regulatory changes affecting carrier management.
• Work with internal stakeholders to align carrier performance with customer expectations.
• Address customer issues related to carrier performance promptly.

• Degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics or Business Administration.
• Masters Degree (would be a plus).
• Very experienced with logistics and carrier operations.
• Have great interpersonal and communication skills.
• Well proven managerial and problem-solving skills.
