JOB DESCRIPTION:

The SA Metal Group (Truck Workshop Department) currently has a vacancy for a detail orientated, process-driven, organized individual to join their team. This position requires someone who is able to work in a fast paced, demanding and pressurized environment.

 

Responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:

  • Ordering, collection and following up on parts, repairs, services and liaising with service agents
  • Obtaining quotations for repairs, vehicle services, parts and tools as and when required
  • Ensure that Critical parts that are to be kept at stores are updated regularly
  • Liaising with suitable suppliers and sourcing quality of parts and spares
  • Fleet service planning - arranging vehicle services and repairs with customers and agents and any related tasks
  • Arrange repairs to workshop equipment
  • Conduct spot checks on progress and well as on vehicle repairs conducted by agents
  • Ensure pre-inspection of vehicles/trailers as well as performing quality checks after work was completed for all workshop repairs
  • Dropping off and collecting trucks as required for service providers
  • Carry out monthly safety checks on generators
  • Assist with creating job cards as needed
  • Coordinate day-to-day activities, projects and the flow of tasks and responsibilities
  • Coordinate and liaise with key internal staff members in order to ensure their satisfaction on quality and progress of jobs
  • Coordinate and monitor the quality and efficiency of work processes and inter-departmental work flow, report any issues or possible improvements to Truck Workshop Manager
  • Planning of department needs with the Truck Workshop Manager as well as the effective execution of the said planning
  • Abide by the regulations as set out in the Occupational Health and Safety Act
  • Any other tasks including administrative functions, as agreed with the Truck Workshop Manager, suited to this level of responsibility

 

Qualifying Criteria

  • Minimum Grade 12 education or equivalent
  • Qualified Diesel Mechanic Red Seal Trade Test certificate
  • Code 14 Drivers license with valid PDRP
  • Experience in a similar role
  • Minimum of 5 years relevant working experience in a coordinating or similar role
  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience as a Diesel Mechanic
  • Computer literate (MS Word, MS Excel)
  • Strong administrative ability
  • Experience working with an Electronic Maintenance system
  • Knowledgeable on the Occupational Health & Safety Act
  • Sound communication skills (understand, read and write English)
  • Must be prepared to work overtime when required
