UX Designer

Purpose:                  

The UX Designer will be responsible for creating user-centered design solutions that meet business goals and user needs. The UX Designer will work closely with cross-functional teams, including product management, development, and research to design and deliver high-quality user experiences. The primary focus will be on designing intuitive, accessible, and engaging interfaces for our products and services.

Essential Functions:

• Conduct user research to uncover insights that inform design decisions;
• Develop and maintain a deep understanding of our users, their needs, and behaviours;
• Create user personas, user journeys, wireframes, prototypes, and high-fidelity designs that meet business goals and user needs;
• Collaborate with product management to define product requirements and design solutions;
• Work closely with development teams to ensure design concepts are feasibly implemented;
• Develop and maintain design standards, guidelines, and best practices;
• Conduct usability testing and gather feedback to iterate and refine designs;
• Stay up-to-date with industry trends, best practices, and emerging technologies;
• Communicate design decisions and solutions to stakeholders and teams;
• Participate in design critiques and provide constructive feedback to peers.

Preferred Skills:

The following knowledge, skills, and abilities may be acquired through a combination of formal schooling, self-education, prior experience, or on-the-job training:

• Experience with front-end development, HTML, CSS, and JavaScript;
• Knowledge of design systems and their implementation;
• Familiarity with design tools such as InVision, Axure, or similar;
• Experience working with agile development methodologies;
• Certification in UX design, human-centered design, or a related field.

Requirements: Experience, Education and Other:

• Grade 12 (matric certificate required);
• Tertiary education (an advantage) - Bachelor''s degree in Design, Human-Computer Interaction, and / or a related field;
• 3+ years of experience in UX design, with a focus on digital products and services;
• Portfolio that showcases your UX design skills, with examples of user research, wireframing, prototyping, and design testing;
• Strong understanding of human-centered design principles, design systems, and design trends;
• Excellent communication, collaboration, and project management skills;
• Proficient in design tools such as Sketch, Figma, Adobe XD, or similar;
• Experience with usability testing, A/B testing, and user research methods;
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, with multiple priorities and deadlines;
• Strong problem-solving skills, with the ability to think creatively and outside the box;
• Previous experience in a betting company (an advantage).
