Underwriter (Construction Guarantees)

SUMMARY:
Role Purpose:
Provide technical support to the senior underwriting team in the Construction Guarantees division.  The role will involve financial, technical, credit risk assessment, portfolio management, client and broker liaison.

Duties & Responsibilities:

• Assess, analyse and interpret financial statements.
• Conduct risk assessments of clients’ businesses (credit, technical, operational).
• Underwrite new facilities within the underwriting policy, mandate and guidelines.
• Conduct annual facility reviews on existing clients.
• Compile thorough underwriting reports.
• Conduct facility administration (quotes, monthly exposure lists, legal security documents, filing).
• Administer new and existing guarantee applications (drafting, issuances, amendments, cancellations).
• Administer all financial transactions on guarantee transactions (premium quotations, invoices and collateral).
• Build and maintain internal and external relationships with all brokers
• Continually improve and maintain high service levels.
• Administer broker and client queries timeously.

POSITION INFO:
Requirements:

• A Diploma/Degree in the Built Environment or Finance.
• Certificate in Short-Term Insurance (or working towards it).
• RE 5 Certificate for Representatives (or working towards it).
• FAIS compliant (or working towards it).
• Minimum 3 years construction industry, insurance or banking experience.
