Underwriter (Personal and Domestic Insurance)

SUMMARY:
We are looking for a highly skilled and experienced Underwriter specializing in Personal and Domestic Insurance. Based in Essenwood, Durban.

The ideal candidate must be fully qualified with an RE5 certification and possess strong expertise in underwriting both personal and domestic insurance policies.

POSITION INFO:
Duties and Responsibilities:

• Assess and underwrite insurance applications for both personal and domestic clients, ensuring compliance with company policies and regulatory guidelines.
• Analyze risks associated with insurance applications and make informed underwriting decisions.
• Develop and maintain strong relationships with clients and brokers.
• Provide expert advice on insurance products and services.
• Independently manage the underwriting process with minimal supervision.
• Prepare and present underwriting reports and documentation.

• Successfully completed Regulatory Examination (RE5).
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in Personal and Domestic Underwriting with a proven track record.
• Strong underwriting expertise with the ability to assess and manage risk effectively.
• NQF Level 4 qualification in Short-Term Insurance.
• Ability to work independently without supervision.
• Must have own reliable transport.
• Proven reliability, trustworthiness, and strong work ethic.
• Excellent analytical, decision-making, and problem-solving skills.
• Strong communication and interpersonal abilities.
• High attention to detail and accuracy.
• Proficiency in relevant underwriting software and computer applications.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines efficiently.
