Job Description

You will be responsible for the following:

Electrician Installations

• Assemble, install, test, and maintain electrical or electronic wiring, equipment, appliances, apparatus, and fixtures, using hand tools and power tools
• Plan layout and installation of electrical wiring, equipment and fixtures, based on job specifications and local codes
• Assist with all normal workshop tasks if not on-site including wiring/testing electrical equipment
• Performing routine maintenance on equipment and determining when and what kind of maintenance is needed
• Assist with commissioning
• Diagnose malfunctioning systems, apparatus, and components, using test equipment and hand tools, to locate the cause of a breakdown and correct the problem
• Connect wires to circuit breakers, transformers, or other components
• Prepare sketches or follow blueprints to determine the location of wiring and equipment and to ensure conformance to building and safety codes

Coordinating Projects

• Liaise with clients to identify and define project requirements, scope and objectives
• Reviews project activities for compliance with procedures and standards
• Participate in preparation of project proposals, timeframes, schedule and budget
• Weekly/daily progress reports on installations project progress and health check projects

Qualifications

• Matric (Grade 12)
• ND in Electrical Engineering
• 3 Phase Wireman’s License (Master IE) (Non-negotiable)
• Project Management Certificate (Advantage)
• First Aid Level 1 (Advantage)
• ORHVS Certificate (Advantage)

Skills

• Knowledge of Schneider & Siemens electrical products would be advantageous
• Knowledge of Electrical systems, especially MCC’s
• Basic knowledge of Computer Aided Design Systems and Tools
• Basic knowledge of Soft Starters and Drives setup and commissioning
• Knowledge of electrical equipment and tools, including their designs, uses, repair, and maintenance
• Valid Driver’s License
• Knowledge of electrical hazards
