Webmaster (Wits ThirdStream)

Main purpose of the job:

• Manage, maintain and update organizations websites
• Responsible for content creation and graphic designs for website

Location:

• Durban

Key performance areas:

• Design and create websites with graphic designers and web developers
• Ensures that web design and function meet industry best-practice standards to implement technical elements related to Website performance, Seach Engine Optimisation, and core web vitals
• Monitor web-related software licenses and versions to ensure compliance and limit security threats
• Test websites across browsers, operating systems, and devices
• Develop and load website content for all internal and partner websites
• Work with content owners to structure the content in a consistent way to effectively communicate with the target audience
• Develop and load content for external Web platforms to promote own web content
• Monitor hosting facilities and alert the server team if required
• Evaluation and test of new web tools and platforms
• Develop and implement web planning and strategy
• Optimize loading speeds and capacity
• Debug pages and fix broken links or images
• Use third-party tools to optimize performance and solve other possible problems
• Address and respond to user complaints
• Assist in designing and producing landing pages, email campaigns, banners, static and rich emails, social media content, print collateral, and other marketing and communication pieces
• Maintaining brand standards to elevate the organization's presence through multi-channels, including but not limited to web, email, mobile, social media, and print
• Maintain and monitor social media platforms
• Leads and manages website projects, including ongoing enhancements in collaboration with the Marketing and IT teams

Required minimum education and training:

• Relevant degree and/or webmaster certification or equivalent
• Proven experience as a Webmaster or Web Designer
• In-depth knowledge and expertise with web programming, HTML 5, JavaScript, CSS
• In-depth knowledge and expertise with Content Management Systems e.g. DotNetNuke & WordPress
• Proficiency in graphic editing for web specifications

Required minimum work experience:

• 2-5 years of working experience
• Knowledge of web analytics and SEO
• Familiarity with web standards
• Working knowledge of website management tools

Desirable additional education, work experience, and personal abilities:

• Strong troubleshooting and analytical abilities
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills
• Ability to generate creative ideas
• Attention to detail and outstanding organizational skills
• Keen interest in new technology
