JOB DESCRIPTION:

Our client in the Automotive Industry is looking for a Workshop Team Leader to join their team. 

Requirements: 
  • Senior Certificate (Grade 12).
  • Computer literate (Office suite).
  • Valid Driver’s license.
  • Motor Dealership workshop experience (2 years supervisory).
  • Qualified Master Technician.
  • Management diploma.
  • An effective understanding of financial budgeting principals.
  • Managerial experience within the Motor Dealership Industry.
  • An effective understanding of 2000/2010 electrical technology (i.e., boardnet).
  • An effective understanding of the Occupational Health and Safety Act. 1993
Responsibilities: 
  • Provide consultation to technicians regarding unresolved technical problem (if unresolved).
  • Provide consultation to TSHARA Champion regarding unresolved technical problem (if unresolved).
  • Relay service action solution from TSHARA system to technical staff.
  • Ensure continuous support and guidance to technical staff throughout technical problem identifying stage.
  • Ensure future corrective actions plans to various technical problems are implemented.
  • Ensure customer is informed off all work done on vehicle.
  • Monitor the capturing of all vehicle details on workshop tracking system by aftersales staff.
  • Ensure that regular, updated feedback on all work done on vehicles is communicated to customer via ASC.
  • Ensure all problems of vehicles on daily WIP are attended to speedily.
  • Ensure workshop throughput is accurately monitored.
  • Assist with any delay in throughput in the workshop.
  • Manage wash bay throughput and be aware of all vehicle status.
  • Ensure workshop is loaded according to productive and available staff.
  • Control workshop productivity (i.e., hours worked / hours sold) and efficiency (i.e., flat rate time with actual time).
  • Ensure optimum workshop profitability, if under booked (i.e., used car’s quality checks, pre-delivery service on all new cars).
  • Ensure all specialized workshop equipment is in workable condition (i.e., ISIS, ISID, lifts, special tools, complete tool boxes etc).
  • Review all allocating hours clocked on all job cards to hours sold (i.e., profitability).
  • Monitor and communicate staff target achievements and implement corrective action plans.
  • Spot check job cards regularly.
  • Review Motor plan reports (regularly) 
  • Ensure Motor plan / Warranty control is in line with policies and procedures.
  • Ensure an understanding of the Occupational Health and Safety Act. 1993.
  • Ensure neat and tidy workshop space at all times.
  • Ensure all relevant soft/hard copy documents are filed accurately for easy accessibility.
  • Ensure frontline staff desk is clean and occupied.
  • Discuss current workshop staff performance of department (departmental meeting).
  • Provide feedback to all workshop staff on individual performance against targets (departmental meeting).
  • Allow the opportunity for relevant input from workshop staff (departmental meeting).
  • Discuss and S-CSI results and potential action Plans.
  • Use Training Needs Analysis to identify specific training needs technicians.
  • Prioritise training required and make the necessary booking.
  • Complete training form feedback.
  • Ensure briefing after training to establish competence of technicians.
  • Recruit staff.
  • Contribute to developing an enabling culture.
  • Strive to retain talent.
  • Develop succession plans for staff.
  • Drive performance management.
  • Coach and mentor junior staff.
  • Ensure all staff are trained according to TNA.
  • Conduct exit interviews.
